Step Pyramid at Saqqara

As you can see, you don't exactly have a leisurely stroll inside a pyramid. Justin was afraid of cave ins. Tourism is already down in Egypt, they sure don't need a disaster to hurt the industry even more. |

Can't imagine what this would be like without the rail and the bars put in. |

The scaffolding around the step pyramid is almost as interesting as the pyramid itself. I had never realized that pre pyramid shaped pyramids they used flat rectangular structures. Pharoah Djoser didn't like how that looked though so he built a smaller rectangle on top (well, I mean he had other people do it) and then another and another... |

We opted not to take a donkey ride. Stinky and I am not exactly sure where you go. I bet it takes longer to get there than just walking too! |

Ryan with our guide, Medhat. He had sons of his own and was patient with our energetic boys who were not always particularly interested in history. As Justin said, it is spring break, not time for a history lesson. |
And, for my mom, who appreciates random pics, some pics taken from the van along our drive.
From our hotel balcony
And the crazy boys inside our hotel
