Spring Break in Egypt (Part 6, Final Section!)

We enjoyed a felucca ride on the Nile. It was a nice day with enough wind so we could move but not so much that we were cold.

Justin was unhappy that life jackets were not required. He was happy to see that they were on the boat and even happier when he and Ryan had them on.

Banana Island-We got off for a short walk to see the bananas and have a snack.

Spring Break in Egypt (Part 4)

Luxor was a short flight from Cairo.  It was much greener in this part of the country.  Driving wasn't quite as crazy either, probably because there weren't as many cars, motorcycles, horses, donkeys, or people.

Valley of the Queens

It was interesting to see people still working away in the mountain looking to uncover yet to be discovered treasures.

I loved the ceiling with the stars in the sky painted.  The colors looked great together. 

Ryan drew a lot of attention before Justin this time. It was nice for him to have a turn. 

Valley of the Kings

Valley of the Kings is where many pharaohs, including King Tut, were buried.  It was interesting to walk in them. They were much larger and deeper than I thought they would be. The hieroglyphics on the wall were amazing and many had brighter colors than I had previously seen. Of course they did not allow cameras here. :(  I did get some pictures from our little train ride up to the area of the tombs. The pyramid shape you see on the mountain is natural, not a built pyramid.
